John Uri Lloyd was a pioneer in pharmacy, colloidal chemistry, pharmacognosy, and the American materia medica, as well as a novelist and local historian. Emma Rouse Lloyd, from a prominent northern Kentucky family, was a writer, illustrator, and wife of John Uri Lloyd.
